Wli Waterfalls, the tallest in Ghana and West Africa, is locally known as Agoomatsa Waterfalls, meaning “Allow Me to Flow.” The falls consist of two cascades: an upper and a lower fall, creating a stunning natural spectacle. Located just 20 kilometers from Hohoe in Ghana’s Volta Region, it is a must-visit destination for nature lovers.
A walk through the lush Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary, which surrounds the falls, offers visitors the opportunity to encounter a diverse range of wildlife, including a large colony of fruit bats, butterflies, birds, monkeys, and baboons.
Legend has it that the falls were discovered by hunters who mistook the sound of the rushing water for a talking drum and ran toward it, only to find the magnificent waterfall instead.
