Kintampo Waterfalls, one of the tallest waterfalls in Ghana, is situated in the Bono East Region. Known as Sanders Falls during the colonial era, it is located on the Pumpum River, a tributary of the Black Volta. The falls lie approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) north of the Kintampo municipality along the Kumasi–Tamale road, just past the Falls Rest Stop when heading north.
Nestled within a serene forest, Kintampo Waterfalls is formed by three main drops, with the tallest reaching a height of 25 meters (82 feet). Below, the river continues its descent over a series of steps and cascades, creating a total drop of about 70 meters (230 feet). This hidden gem is a popular destination for nature lovers and offers a tranquil escape into Ghana’s natural beauty.
